If you love fall, fresh apples, scenic country roads and discovering local farms, there’s a Wayne County tradition you’ll want to add to your autumn plans: the  Wayne County Apple Tasting Tour.

But what exactly is it?

The Apple Tasting Tour is a self-guided fall adventure through Wayne County, New York, inviting visitors to explore local orchards, farm markets and other participating stops while sampling the incredible variety of apples grown right here in the heart of apple country. Play apple jumble along the way. Find letters at each participating stop and try to solve the jumble to be eligible for prizes. The tour takes place throughout October, making it a perfect way to experience the sights, flavors and traditions of the season.

So, How Does It Work?

There’s no big bus to catch and no set route you have to follow.

U pick the stops; U pick the way!

Choose the stops you want to visit, grab your family or friends, and hit the road. Follow the tour from one participating location to the next.

At each stop, you’ll have the opportunity to collect an apple jumble letter and experience something a little different. One farm market might introduce you to a new apple variety, while another may offer fresh cider, homemade baked goods, seasonal produce, pumpkins or other local favorites.

And that’s part of what makes the Apple Tasting Tour so much fun — every stop has its own personality.

Taste Your Way Through Apple Country

Have you ever wondered why one apple tastes sweet while another is tart? Why some are crisp and juicy while others are softer? Or which apple is best for snacking, baking or making the perfect pie?

The Apple Tasting Tour Signature Tasting Weekend gives you a chance to find out.

Apple tasting is about more than simply deciding whether you like an apple. You can compare the taste, texture, aroma, color and variety of different apples and discover some new favorites. During the Signature Tasting Weekend each stop will have different tastings of anything and all things apple!

More Than Just Apples

While apples are certainly the star of the show, they aren’t the only reason to take the tour.

Depending on the participating location, you may find fresh-pressed cider, homemade baked goods, farm-fresh produce, pumpkins, seasonal treats, gifts, crafts, wine, cider or spirits.

It’s a chance to slow down, shop local and meet the people who help make Wayne County such a special agricultural destination.
